If you are getting married in Pattaya or simply getting engaged then you can apply for a UK visa for your Thai fiancee and get married when you arrive in the UK. Firstly in order to obtain a UK fiancee visa for your Thai fiancee you must be a British citizen who is not living on public funds. Both you are your Thai fiancee must also be free to marry and you must be getting married within 6 months of arriving in the United Kingdom.
These are the basic rules for the UK fiancee visa and how to obtain this visa while in Pattaya. The British consulate in Pattaya has been closed so most of our visa applications are now done in Bangkok to ensure that the time delay is much shorter. The visa application can however be made at our office in Pattaya and forwarded to our Bangkok law office for completion.
- – You must intend to get married when arriving in the UK;
- – You don’t need access to public funds while in the UK;
- – You plan to live together permanently;
- – You will get married within 6 months after arriving in the United Kingdom;
Once the above is done you need to know that your Thai fiancee will not be able to work while in the UK until such time that you have married. Once you are married she will have to apply for an extension for 2 years. Once this is granted she can then seek employment in the UK. Once the 2 years has expired she needs to apply for a life test which will then allow her to stay permanently.
If there are children or a Thai child then you need to speak to our lawyer about what your options are for the child. The children/child would need to be single and must be under the age of 18. Also note that in order to apply for this British visa you need to be older than 18 years old and your Thai fiancee must be over the age of 16.
